TDK-Micronas is part of TDK's Sensor Systems Business Company and is the competence center for magnetic field sensors and CMOS integration. The company was founded in 1952 and acquired by the Japanese TDK Corporation in 2016. The operational headquarters have been in Freiburg im Breisgau since 1962. In addition to its own production facility, research and development, marketing and sales, TDK-Micronas maintains numerous sales offices worldwide. The company's core competencies are sensor solutions for automotive and industrial applications. The product range includes Hall switches, linear sensors, 3D direct angle sensors and current sensors as well as embedded motor controllers for controlling BDC, BLDC and stepper motors. TDK-Micronas has more than 25 years of experience in the on-site production of semiconductors for sensor and actuator solutions. In 1993, the company was the first to produce a Hall effect sensor using CMOS technology. TDK-Micronas sells its sensors and controllers under the "Micronas" product brand and has delivered a total of over five billion Hall sensors to the automotive and industrial markets to date.
